MSc Sustainable Energy Futures

Entry requirements

Presentation

The decrease in fossil fuel resources (and the resulting sustained increase in their price), the considerable increase in energy demand, supply difficulties, the weight of the energy sector in GHG emissions and the fight against Climate change (reaffirmed by the ratification of the Paris Agreements in 2015) requires a rapid and in-depth transformation of energy production and consumption methods.

To achieve this, traditional players in the sector (Total, EDF, ENGIE, etc.), as well as new players, must mobilize and adapt by relying heavily on the recruitment of new profiles .

This program offers a global vision of the energy and environment sectors based on both science and technology , but also on the human and social sciences (political sciences, economics, etc.).

Its main objective is to train executives capable of designing and implementing intelligent systems for managing energy infrastructures, controlling consumption and storing energy using all the possibilities of “high-tech” in terms of control-command, sensor networks and information systems; it thus allows them to understand the changes in the Energy and Environment sectors , to understand the new associated challenges , to respond and anticipate threats and to deploy appropriate solutions .

The objectives

  • Master all scientific and technical aspects of the energy sector: production, transport, storage, distribution, uses, etc.
  • Understand the sector's impact on international relations and its implications in terms of risk and security.
  • Understand the mechanisms of energy regulation and regulation and anticipate the main developments.
  • Acquire the essential skills for energy managers: purchasing and logistics, logistical aspects, regulatory and legal aspects, financial approaches, project management, negotiation, communication, innovation, etc.

Opportunities

  • Operation/maintenance manager of energy infrastructure (power plant operator, dispatching, etc.).
  • EnR project manager (Photovoltaic, solar thermal & thermodynamic, wind, hydraulic, tidal, geothermal, methanization, etc.)
  • Smart Energy Network Manager (Smart Grid)
  • Building energy specialist
  • Consultant in energy efficiency and sustainable development
  • Smart building project manager
  • Embedded energy engineer
  • Sustainable development engineer
  • Environmental/QSE/CSR engineer
  • Energy purchasing manager
